Big 22 2012 Winners

Garrett Beech – United
Eagles junior carried the ball 181 times for 1,427 yards and 21 TD’s. Beech also completed 75 of 175 passes for 1,017 yards and 12 TD’s in the air.
Nick Blower – Crestview

Rebels senior carried the ball 181 times for 2,041 yards and scored 26 total TD’s. Blower is now Crestview’s all-time leading rusher and twice been named to our Big 22.

DeShawn Coleman – Hickory
Hornets senior carried the ball 151 times for 1,730 yards, averaged over 11 yards per carry, and scored a total of 35 TD’s. Coleman is now Hickory’s all-time leading rusher and scorer. He also had 34 tackles on defense with 3 INT’s, and has twice been named to our Big 22. He will continue his football career at West Virginia next year.
Tim Cooper – Western Reserve
Devils senior had 1,024 yards rushing, 584 yards receiving, and 16 total TD’s. Cooper also broke the school record with 8 INT’s this season, and finished as Western Reserve’s all-time leader with 24 in his career.
LeShun Daniels – Warren Harding
Raiders senior carried the ball 261 times for 1,604 yards, averaged over 6 yards per carry and score 16 total TD’s.
Chris Durkin – Ursuline
Irish junior had 1,275 yards passing, 1,103 yards rushing, and accounted for 22 total TD’s this season.
Matt Futkos – Austintown Fitch
Falcons senior had 1,062 yards passing, 420 yards rushing, and accounted for 25 TD’s this season, 4 of which came against St Ignatius in the playoffs.
Ryan Grier – Youngstown Christian
Eagles senior carried the ball 152 times for 1,532 yards, averaged over 10 yards per carry, and scored 17 TD’s. Grier also recorded over 65 tackles and scored twice on defense.
Luke Griffith – Southern
Indians senior quarterback passed for 2,170 yards and accounted for 22 total TD’s this season. Griffith broke the school record for passing yards in a season, and became Southern’s all-time leader in that category as well.
Courtney Love – Cardinal Mooney
Cardinals senior led the team with 37.5 tackles in just 8 games this season. He is one of the top rated linebackers in the country, and will continue his football career at the University of Nebraska next season.
Tyler Luchey – Sharpsville
Devils senior had 51 receptions for 795 yards and 9 TD’s. Luchey also recorded 6 INT’s and scored twice on defense this season.
Ryan Mosora – Brookfield
Warriors senior carried the ball 224 times for 2,149 yards, averaged over 9 yards per carry, had 240 yards receiving, and scored 36 total TD’s this season. Mosora also had 12 tackles and 5 INT’s on defense. He was also twice named to our Big 22.
Luke Patten – West Middlesex
Big Reds senior carried the ball 198 times for 1,515 yards and accounted for 22 total TD’s this season. Patten also recorded 92 tackles, 9 for loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 INT’s, and 1 TD on defense.
Jalyn Powell – Warren Harding
Raiders senior caught 22 passes for 353 yards and 2 TD’s. Powell also had 16 tackles and 5 INT’s on defense, and accounted for 889 all-purpose yards with 2 punt return TD’s this season. He will continue his football career at Michigan State next year.
Billy Price – Austintown Fitch
Falcons senior anchored a line that averaged over 291 yards rushing and 42 points per game, and a defensive line that allowed less than 12 points per game this season. Price was a 5 Blocks of Granite award winner last season, and will continue his football career at Ohio State next year.
Jeremy Quinlan – Brookfield
Warriors senior had 1,249 yards rushing, 1,223 yards passing, and accounted for 36 total TD’s. Quinlan also recorded 76 tackles and 6 INT’s on defense this season.
L.J. Scott – Hubbard
Eagles sophomore carried the ball 168 times for 1,614 yards, averaged over 9 yards per carry and scored 26 total TD’s this season. Scott also recorded 25 tackles, 7 for loss, 3 INT’s and 2 sacks on defense. He is only the 2nd sophomore ever to make The Big 22.
De’Veon Smith – Howland
Tigers senior carried the ball 145 times for 1,731 yards, and scored 26 touchdowns this season. Smith became Trumbull County’s all-time leading rusher with 6,619 yards and 80 TD’s in his career. He is also the only 3-time winner of our Big 22 award, and will continue his career at the University of Michigan next year.
David Stewart – Struthers
Wildcats senior carried the ball 230 times for 1,571 yards, averaged over 6 yards per carry, scored 22 total TD’s and recorded 32 tackles on defense this season.
Sherron Walls – Liberty
Leopards senior carried the ball 315 times for 1,916 yards, averaged over 6 yards per carry, and scored 26 total TD’s this season.
Brenden Wells – West Branch
Warriors senior carried the ball 226 times for 1,432 yards and scored 12 total TD’s this season. He also broke a 45 year old school record with 356 yards rushing in one game. Wells is West Branch’s all-time leading rusher with over 3,700 career yards.
Stefan Yuhas – Niles
Dragons senior had 1,495 yards passing and 1,456 yards rushing… accounting for more than 75% of the team’s total yards. He also ran or threw for 33 of the team’s 40 TD’s. Yuhas averaged over 60 tackles as a 3 year starter on defense
