Foiled Youngstown Intruder Arraigned on Burglary Charge

The Youngstown man accused of breaking into an elderly woman’s home appeared in Mahoning County Court on Friday.

Alex Melton, 26, was arraigned on a felony burglary charge.

Melton allegedly smashed through a front window of a home on Ferndale Avenue on Wednesday.

Once inside, the 72-year-old homeowner fired a shot at him and missed, then held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Melton told police he was being chased.

His bond was set at $20,000. He’s due back in court next week.
