Liberty Man Indicted by Federal Grand Jury

A Liberty man was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury after Boardman police and federal agents found him twice in a two-week span with hundreds of thousands of dollars and drugs in his car and a rented motel room.

Andre M. Little, 27, of 4254 Glade St., was indicted on a charge of intending to distribute more than 1,000 grams of heroin.

An arraignment date has not yet been set.

Little, who has been convicted in Mahoning County Court on several drug offenses, was first pulled over Feb. 13 on Market Street in Boardman with two other men in the car, according to an affidavit filed by Drug Enforcement Agency and Task Force Officer Joshua Wells. Boardman police found three bags of marijuana inside the car and $111,000 in rolled up cash in the trunk.

All three men, including Little, denied it was their money.

On Feb. 17, Boardman officers were called to the Days Inn Motel at 7393 because the hotel manager smelled marijuana coming from Little’s room.

Officers searched the room and found a bag with a large zip-lock bag containing 1,726 grams of heroin and a “large amount of U.S. currency,” the affidavit said. Authorities had not counted the money at the time of affidavit was written.

Agents and Boardman police conducted surveillance on the room and arrested Little and a woman when they arrived back at the motel.

Little was originally charged in Boardman Area Court with first-degree felony drug trafficking and misdemeanor drug charges.

Little, according to court records, was convicted of possessing heroin in October and was sentenced to forfeit $1,366. He was placed on two years probation.
