Hundreds of Youngstown State University students got professional practice preparing works of art for display.
The 77th annual Juried Student Art Exhibition opened Friday evening at the McDonough Museum of Art in Youngstown.
There were 250 pieces submitted for the show, which is significantly higher than the average of about 160.
The artists also had to wait until opening night on Friday to find out if their work had been selected for the show.
The entire exhibit features work by students enrolled in art and design programs in the Department of Art at YSU.
“It’s a tradition, it’s a great tradition to have, it’s great for the students to show their artwork and be able to exhibit it in a museum and actually have this real life experience with their art,” said Zach Repphun, president of the Student Art Association.
Awards were given out in 14 categories. The exhibit runs through April 12.
