Ohioan, 74, arrested in park shooting death of dog

CINCINNATI (AP) — A 74-year-old Ohio man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a dog at a public park.

Robert Marx of Cincinnati appeared in Hamilton County Justice Court on Wednesday on charges of knowingly shooting a gun within city limits and criminal damage.

Convictions on both counts would carry a maximum sentence of nine months in jail.

Marx was released on bond and was placed on electronic monitoring. He did not immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday.

The couple that owns the dog that was killed, a 1-year-old pitbull named Bruski, say their pet was being playful with Marx’s dog when that dog bit Bruski.

They say Bruski then bit into the other dog’s hair, locking his jaws, and that’s when Marx shot him in the back.
