Struthers Mayor Terry Stocker has appointed Christina Bohl as acting auditor following the resignation of current auditor Tina Morrell.

Morrell, who has held the position for 10 years, informed City Council last week that she intended to resign to take care of an ill family member. She officially submitted a letter of resignation earlier this week, and the resignation is effective Monday.

Bohl, who is currently deputy auditor, will be acting auditor until the Mahoning County Democratic Party’s central committee meets to appoint a replacement for Morrell. Party chairman Dave Betras said interested candidates can submit a letter requesting an appointment to him via email at dbetras@bhlaws.com. All requests should be received by 4 p.m. April 8.

Betras said the central committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 11 in Struthers City Council chambers to vote on a replacement.

“Tina has been a model for what it means to be a public servant. The citizens in Struthers will feel her absence,” Betras said.
