Boardman Teacher Injured During Mock Shooting Drill

A teacher was injured during a mock active shooter training exercise.

A Boardman teacher was seriously injured Wednesday during a mock active shooter drill at Boardman High School.

Jesse McClain, a teacher at Center Middle School, was knocked down by a police officer during the training exercise. A family member said he suffered a broken shoulder and broken hip and underwent surgery Thursday afternoon.

His condition is unknown.

A family member said McClain was planning to retire at the end of the school year.
