Firefighter injured battling Ohio warehouse blaze

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say one firefighter has been injured battling a blaze at a central Ohio warehouse, which is expected to continue burning overnight.

About 60 firefighters from as many as 13 departments responded to the fire that broke out at an industrial park around 3 p.m. Wednesday near Chillicothe (chihl-ih-KAHTH’-ee) in Ross County. That’s about 50 miles south of Columbus.

WBNS-TV reports the injured firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and is expected to be OK.

Crews say there were no fire hydrants in the area, so they had to truck in water from elsewhere to fight the fire.

Officials tell The Chillicothe Gazette the blaze apparently started when a burning piece of cardboard flew into the paper warehouse in the Schooley Station Industrial Park.
