But for one Champion High School student, her famous date finally made it official on Twitter.
Last week, Leanne Brown’s normal daily phone call to her mom was not so typical.
“I just called her. I call her every day when I get home from school. And she didn’t answer. Josh answered. And he was like ‘I want to take you to your prom,'” Brown said.
The Josh that answered is former Cleveland Brown Josh Cribbs. Leanne’s mom works for him.
“At that point I didn’t even say anything. And I’m like ‘are you serious?’ and he’s like ‘Ya,'” she said.
Then he made it official by tweeting on Thursday night, “I’m excited 2be going 2the Champion high school senior prom April 13th with Leanimal33 gotta break out my dancing shoes once again.”
And once that happened, it didn’t take long for the school of about 500 students and the community to start buzzing about the news.
But once it hit the social media, it didn’t stop. Brown said she has gotten more than 200 followers just by Cribbs’ tweet, which also has more than 100 re-tweets. She said people were talking to her from around the country.
At first, Brown was unsure about attending her senior prom, but she was honored Cribbs offered.
“It means so much to me. I know him on a personal level. I’ve met him a couple times. He is such a good guy,” Brown said.
