N. Pa. teacher/coach suspended in lewdness case

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. (AP) — A teacher and coach at a north-central Pennsylvania high school has been suspended with pay after being charged with performing a sex act on himself that a passing trucker saw on Interstate 80.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 56-year-old Ronald Haskins, of Port Allegany, who faces a preliminary hearing April 24 in Mercer County on charges of indecent exposure, open lewdness and careless driving. Haskins didn’t immediately return a call for comment Thursday.

The Bradford Era (http://bit.ly/10yHWeW ) reports Thursday that Haskins was charged by state police for the incident that occurred about 8:20 a.m. March 29.

Port Allegany School District officials have told the newspaper that Haskins has been suspended with pay.

The high school social studies teacher is also on the school’s baseball and football coaching staffs.
