A former Hillside Hospital nurse pleaded not guilty to felony charges that accuse her of stealing drugs from the Howland hospital.

Misty Young, 33, of Warren, entered the plea Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on a secret indictment charging her with 48 counts of stealing drugs and processing drug documents illegally.

Bond was set at $5,000.

Prosecutors said she was hired at Hillside in April of 2012 as a registered nurse. In June, Howland police, the Trumbull-Ashtabula Group law enforcement task force and the Ohio Board of Nursing began investigating Young.

“Theoretically she is looking at a great deal of time,” said assistant Trumbull County Prosecutor Chris Becker. “Of course, she is a first offender and these are non-violent offenses. Suffice to say there were a lot of drugs that were taken from this hospital.”
