Sears Evacuated After Small Fire

A small fire at Sears inside the Southern Park Mall forced an evacuation on Thursday.

Mall officials said a maid’s cart inside a second-floor closet caught fire at about 11 a.m.

The store’s sprinkler system activated and extinguished the fire.

Officials say the store was re-opened about 30 minutes later.

The second floor remains closed while crews clean up.
