Warren City Councilman Eddie Colbert, 7th Ward, said city officials need to develop a plan to show they are tacking the crime and drug problem in the city.
Colbert said the administration needs to reinstate the narcotics unit using the existing 65 police officer they already have, which he believes will send a direct message to the drug dealers and the community that the city is addressing the problem.
“We can utilize our health department as well as our building inspector to do things to clean the neighborhood up,” said Colbert. “Not allow the criminal element to just blend in to neighborhoods so easily.”
Colbert says he would also like to see a zero tolerance policy declared for problematic areas. If the measures are successful, Colbert believes businesses that are looking for clean, safe cities will move to Warren.
