Dozens of bronze vases stolen from Pa. cemetery

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — Police in northeastern Pennsylvania say a man is in custody after dozens of bronze vases were reported missing from a cemetery.

The Times-Tribune reports ( ) officials at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton reported several fixtures attached to graves were missing Wednesday. A criminal complaint filed Thursday says later it was found that 100 to 200 were missing.

Police say 40-year-old Laurel Run resident Erik Zimmerman is charged with receiving stolen property. He was taken into custody at a scrap yard. Investigators say they visited the scrapyard Thursday and saw the vases in plastic garbage bags.

A reliable telephone listing for Zimmerman could not immediately be located and it wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
