The father of two children who died Thursday in a crash on Interstate 76 in Milton Township is in a medically induced coma, officials said.

Rashon Crumpton, 38, was driving his SUV when investigators said he lost control, flipped several times into the on-coming lanes when he was struck by a semi truck.

Crumpton’s wife, Shakia Crumpton, 36, and their two children were ejected from the vehicle.

Pedro Crumpton, 7, and Paris Crumpton, 2, who were sleeping at the time of the crash, died after they were ejected. Neither were wearing seatbelts.

Shakia Crumpton is expected to make a full recovery, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said.

Investigators said the family was traveling from Columbus to their New York state home.

The driver of the semi-truck, Richard Walker, 56, of Marion, Indiana, was not injured.

A pet was also in the vehicle with the family. The puppy survived the crash and was checked out by Animal Charity veterinarian Kelly Willard. The dog is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation.
