Hearing Scheduled to Discuss Delays in Austintown Racino Construction

An Ohio Senate Committee hearing is scheduled in Austintown to discuss the impact of further delays in the construction of a racino in the township.

State Senator Joe Schiavoni, D-Boardman, announced Friday that the Ohio Senate Workforce and Economic Development Committee will meet in Austintown on April 11 to discuss ongoing issues with the Hollywood slots at Mahoning Valley Race Course.

Shiavnoi is a member of the committee and said the purpose of the hearing is to hear testimony from elected officials, labor leaders, economic development experts and business owners regarding the benefits of the racino and the consequences of further construction delays.

Representatives of the Ohio Racing Commission, the Governor’s office and Penn National Gaming have been invited to attend the hearing which is scheduled at 10 a.m. at the Austintown Township Hall, 82 Ohltown Road, Austintown.
