March was social work month and to honor social workers in the area and at the university YSU celebrated Social Work Day.
Nearly 250 social workers and students gathered at Kilcawley Center Friday for breakfast and a morning filled with guest speakers and awards.
This is the 18th Social Work Day for the university. This event honors social workers in the Valley and gives YSU students a chance to network before they graduate.
“It’s a homecoming. The graduates come back, our alumni, students and our field educators and I always tell the students make sure you mingle and network because that may be your future job out there by meeting someone today,” said LISW-S professor Shirley Keller.
The Master of Social Work program at YSU has grown from six students in 2004 to 70.
