Students Turn Back Time at YSU

Students on Saturday turned back time at the 38th Annual History Day competition at YSU.

Close to 200 middle and high school students took part in the event.

This year’s theme is Turning Points in History: People, Ideas and Events.

Some exhibits focused on the September 11th attacks, while others reflected on pop icons, like Michael Jackson.

Struthers High School freshman Abby Rowe focused on the war that once divided our nation.

“I chose the Civil War because if we never had this war, we could still be just a big jumbled up mess of a country,” said Rowe. “We would have never gone through so many changes if it wasn’t for something happening like this.”

Winners from Saturday advance to the state finals at Ohio State University.
