Man killed, child injured in ATV crash in Pa.

CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a man was killed and a child was injured in the crash of an all-terrain vehicle in a wooded area in western Pennsylvania.

State police in Fayette County told The (Uniontown) Herald-Standard (http://bit.ly/11Fao16 ) that the accident happened behind at about 2 p.m. Saturday in Connellsville Township.

The county coroner’s office says 20-year-old Joseph Lee Foster of Connellsville was pronounced dead at Highlands Hospital shortly afterward.

Officials said an 11-year-old child was taken from the scene by crews using another ATV and then flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Trooper Alec Hamilton said the child was held for observation but declined to disclose additional details.

Police said they had difficulty reaching the crash site behind the Connellsville Sewage Plant.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
