Local Fans Travel Together to Indians Opener

The Cleveland Indians home opener was today and for dozens of local fans, watching it on TV wasn’t good enough.

A bus load of people took the hour ride to Progressive Field for the first pitch at 4:05 p.m. They left from the Scrappers field in Niles just after noon.

The Class A affiliate of the Indians provided the bus, charging $55 for the ride and game ticket.

“Convenience, it’s easier. You don’t have to drive. You don’t have to park. You get to sit in there and have fun with guys and girls, whatever, and enjoy the game, and they bring you right back,” said Campbell fan Anthony Vavlas.

Monday’s game against the Yankees sold out in just six minutes with 43,000 tickets sold.
