The Trumbull Career and technical center is fast becoming known as one stop shopping for employers in the area. On Tuesday, school officials announced they are certified as an official testing center for Ohio. They are now one of 11 across the state that’s able to do testing to match potential employees with businesses looking to hire.
“This will help because they will be able to tell what kind of occupation that individual will be able to fit in to,” said superintendent Wayne McClain. “It will find their qualities, their strengths and go from there.”
That means, TCTC can now provide close to a thousand tests, including background and drug testing for potential employers. It will also help determine if someone has the skills needed before they get hired.
“This will allow us to have people earn certifications and credentials right here on site by testing here. And also businesses and industry can use it for hiring and post testing after training to see if they are where they need to be,” said Vicki Thompson, TCTC Adult Education Center Director. “They can bundle up and customize tests from different vendors, they can use it to their advantage. All that grows the economy.”
Sarah Boyarko with the Regional Chamber said the Valley’s economy is growing with over $750 million worth of pending project investment overall.
“A great majority of them are manufacturing opportunities welding, other types of manufacturing, automotive industries, and so forth,” said Boyarko. “So, these people are going to need to be trained and it is a great service TCTC has.
The testing is open to the public. For more information call the Trumbull County Technical Center at 330-847-0503.
