Homeless Man Indicted in Fatal Stabbing

Richard Clark

A homeless man was charged Thursday by a county grand jury with murdering a Warren man.

Richard Clark, 39, formerly of Warren and Niles, was charged with aggravated murder, robbery and possessing heroin Thursday for fatally stabbing a Warren man two weeks ago.

Police said they are still unsure why Dwayne Hickman, 49, was stabbed in his Williamsburg Street N.W. home.

Clark, according to records, was arrested on the felony drug charge the day after Hickman was found dead and was taken to an area hospital.

Clark has been charged 12 times with drug offenses, twice with endangering children and receiving stolen property, three times with theft, and once each for attempted burglary, stealing a car, unauthorized use of a car, resisting arrest, trespassing and carrying a concealed weapon since 1993.

Police said they found Hickman’s body after family members became worried when they were unable to contact him for days.

Officers found Hickman dead inside his home with 11 stab wounds.

Hickman had several traffic violations, DUI, marijuana possession, carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct and using weapons while intoxicated charges in Warren Municipal Court.

It’s the city’s third homicide of the year.
