Baby Injured in I-680 Accident

I-680 Wreck
A car crashed into the concrete divider on Interstate 680, shutting down the road between Market Street and Williamson Avenue.

A 1-month-old baby was injured Friday in a traffic crash on Interstate 680.

The one-car crash occurred in the southbound lane between Market Street and Williamson Avenue around 4:30 p.m. The driver was treated for minor injuries and the baby was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital in Boardman, according to Youngstown police.

The cause of the crash still is under investigation. Police said the baby was not seriously injured, and it is unknown if the baby was properly secured in a car seat.

That portion of the roadway was closed for about 90 minutes while crews cleared the wreckage and transported the victims. The Chevrolet Impala involved in the crash was severely damaged and it came to rest against the concrete barrier.
