Women Gather for Grid Iron Talk

Stambaugh Stadium was filled with women on Friday night ready to have fun and learn about football.

The fourth annual Youngstown State University football Women’s Coaching Clinic provided a unique opportunity for women to gain more knowledge about the game.

Ladies got to meet some players during a special fashion show, toured Stambaugh Stadium and asked the coaches questions.

YSU head football coach Eric Wolford’s wife, Melinda Wolford, hosted the event.

“I think this is such a wonderful opportunity or venue for women to get together to have a little jewelry, have a little raffle, have some food and really get to know a bit more about the basics, the fundamentals of football,” said Melinda Wolford.

All proceeds from the night will go to the Purple Cat, which provides job and life skills for the mentally and physically impaired.
