PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a 13-year-old boy was arrested after he was pulled from a stolen sport utility vehicle that crashed on a bridge.
East Pittsburgh police said an officer spotted the SUV going the wrong way on a street at about 1 a.m. Friday.
Chief Lori Payne said officers pursued the SUV for three miles, until he lost control, flipped over and was left suspended a few feet in the air between a utility pole and the bridge railing.
Payne said the vehicle then caught fire, but an officer put out the flames with an extinguisher and removed the boy, who was taken to Children’s Hospital in Lawrenceville as a precaution.
Officials said they didn’t immediately know what criminal charges the youth will face.
