Defense: Pa. man to plead to moving body

SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) – A defense attorney says a western Pennsylvania man charged with having moved a friend’s corpse out of his apartment into the dead man’s pickup truck plans to plead guilty as soon as a hearing can be arranged.

The (Somerset) Daily American ( ) says 37-year-old Michael Moore of Somerset apologized Friday to the family of 53-year-old Frankie Sass.

Defense attorney William Carroll said his client wanted to spare the family “a whole lot of turmoil” by pleading guilty to abuse of a corpse.

Police said Sass showed up at Moore’s apartment in January and was later found dead, so he and others put the body in the truck and left the vehicle elsewhere in the borough.

Moore was sentenced Thursday to four months to two years in a drug case.
