Fitch Baseball Tops Mooney

Struthers – Luke Peterson’s two-run single in the sixth inning helped give Fitch a 6-2 victory over Cardinal Mooney on Sunday afternoon at Cene Park.

With the game tied at 2-2, Peterson hit a line shot down the right field line allowing two runs to score.

Just a batter earlier, the Falcons were able to tie the game as Alex Sierra legged out an infield single.  The throw got past Mooney’s first baseman, and Zarek Bell scored.

Fitch added a pair of insurance runs in the final inning to push the score to the final count.

Mooney had led 2-1 after Gino Divincenzo drilled a line drive to left field.  Drew Beck scored on the play.

Fitch opened the scoring in the first inning when Scott Pierce hit a double to right center field.  Shane Vitullo scored to give the Falcons a 1-0 advantage.

Mooney plated its first run with a sacrifice fly an inning later.

Fitch improves to 7-1 overall.  Cardinal Mooney drops to 4-3.
