Liberty Lights Up Bridge

Liberty Township officials put the finishing touches on a bridge project Wednesday morning with some artistic banners.

Trustee Jodi Stoyak said they call the bridge “Spirit Bridge” because it’s the first thing people see when they enter the Liberty High School campus. Part of the area around the bridge is lit up at night with LED street lights.

The lights were provided by grants through gas and electric aggregate programs. Stoyak said the lights save money and she would like to see the township get some more.

“I have been in communication with the First Energy district manager. They’re still under research but I told her as soon as they’re ready to do a pilot, I want us to be the first ones,” Stoyak said.

Stoyak said the bridge and LED lighting project has been three years in the making.
