Brothers Charged with Selling Guns Illegally

Two Warren brothers were indicted Wednesday, along with 95 others on unrelated cases, for selling firearms at a flea market without a license.

Ricky and Henry Walker, 54 and 60, were charged Wednesday with illegally selling firearms as an unlicensed dealer at a flea market.

The indictment alleges the Walkers sold 31 guns illegally from September 2011 until March 2012, including at least one with an obliterated serial number.

The brothers often bartered with prospective buyers, trading the guns for furniture and other property. They sold handguns, rifles and shotguns and one bayonet, the indictment says.

The indictment said the brothers sold nine guns on Sept. 7, 2011 and sold 22 on Oct. 20.

Ricky Walker, according to a search of court records, was sentenced to 10 months in prison on April 4 for grand theft. He was previously sentenced in 2010 to five years probation on convictions for receiving stolen property and possessing criminal tools.

Authorities refused to say where the flea market where the Walkers allegedly sold guns from was located.

But a June 2011 police report says Walker told police he beat a potential robber in the head with a baseball bat inside his office at 125 Fulton St. S.W.

Walker at the time told police he saw a man near the cash register with a bag of coins in his hand, but told officers he didn’t believe the man had a weapon.

Reports said Walker reported that the man with the coins charged at him and he grabbed a baseball bat and hit the man in the head once. The man dropped the coins and fled.

Officers reported finding blood droplets in the building and collected DNA evidence and said they would review surveillance cameras in the business’ parking lot. Reports said the burglar got into the building by breaking a window on the northwest corner of the building.
