Crowd Gathers for Thrift Store Giveaway

Dozens stood in line Thursday, some for 90 minutes, waiting to get into Schultes Thrift Yard on Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown.

Owner Fred Schultes said he wants to move to a larger place up the street. But instead of paying someone to move his inventory, he’s literally giving it away.

Those who managed the wait left with anything they could carry or haul away, and it was all free.

“I got a nice little chair right here. Then I got a dresser for the bedroom, got a Polaroid camera, can’t beat that,” said Joseph Winfield of Youngstown. “Clean it up, put some batteries in it, be alright.”

Schultes’ giveaway runs through Saturday.
