Foundation Gives Scholarships to Local Students

YSU

More than $180,000 in scholarships for local students were made available on Thursday to Youngstown State University.

The Marion G. Resch Foundation provided a $185,000 to YSU on Thursday for students from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties for next school year.

The foundation started in 2000 and focuses most of the $2 million its donated to the school to giving need-based scholarships with a merit component to economically disadvantaged students from Warren, a statement from YSU said.

Resch, who died in 2004, graduated from the Rayen School and Lake Erie College. Her husband, Paul, a 1933 graduate of Youngstown College’s law school, was a local stockbroker.
