Ohioan charged in McDonald’s worker shooting death

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A 21-year-old Akron man is charged with murder and aggravated robbery in the death of a McDonald’s worker who was shot while taking out the trash.

A defense attorney says Johnnl Lanier Lewis had an initial court appearance Thursday in Akron Municipal Court. Attorney Walter Benson said it was too soon for him to comment further on the case, which is expected to be moved to common pleas court.

Akron police say tips led them to question and later arrest Lewis in the killing of 28-year-old John Lehman, also of Akron.

Police have said Lehman was confronted by someone and shot several times near the back door of the restaurant on the night of April 6. Lehman died later at a hospital.
