Angels Gear Up for Big Fundraiser

Garage sale season is kicking off with one of the biggest events in the area.

Angels for Animals has taken over four buildings on the Canfield fairgrounds, and the tables are overflowing.

Housewares, books, artwork and even furniture are all on sale through Sunday.

Fprty percent of the items this year are coming from two estates, donated by animal lovers.

The goal is to raise $100,000, which is 10-percent of their operating budget.

“We have a $1 million operating budget. Very few people realize this, but Angels for Animals handles 15,000 animals per year, more than all the pounds and shelters in Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties combined,” said Diane Less with Angels for Animals.

Last year the event raised $79,000. Admission Saturday is $1. Admission is free on Sunday.
