Pittsburgh tops in U-Haul study of who’s moving in

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A survey of U-Haul truck rentals shows Pittsburgh leads all other U.S. cities in the percentage of people moving into the city compared to those leaving.

The study shows 9 percent more people were renting trucks to move items to Pittsburgh than were renting U-Hauls to move out of the city.

Bill Flanagan, executive vice president of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, says he believes the survey means more younger people — that is, those fit enough to move their own furniture — are moving into the city.

The runner up was Henderson, Nev., which had 7.5 percent more people renting incoming trucks and outgoing.

The top five cities from where the Pittsburgh trucks are coming are Philadelphia, Erie and State College, in the state, and Columbus, Ohio and Washington, D.C.
