Civil War Group Camps out in Austintown

Civil War Group

A group dedicated to bringing the Civil War to life braved the cold this weekend.

The 19th Volunteer Infantry of Ohio camped out at the Austintown Township Park. About 20 members took part in the annual “Boot Camp”.

The event introduces any new recruit to the reenactments and allows the rest of the group to brush up on their skills.

The practice is needed since the 19th Infantry travels all over the country.

“A lot down in Virginia. Gone to Georgia, South Carolina. This year, we will be doing Gettysburg, which is the biggest one we do.” said Capt. David Lavrok, 19th Volunteer Infantry.

The group will spend Saturday night in the park and finish training on Sunday.
