Officer Hoping to Race for a Cure

Officer Benefit

A Youngstown police officer is raising money so she can take part in the Susan G. Komen event in Cleveland this summer.

Barbara Copeland hosted a fundraiser Saturday night in Hubbard to help raise the $2,300 to participate in the sixty mile walk in August.

All proceeds from the dinner/dance event will go to breast cancer research. Copeland also plans to take a group of volunteers with her to help out at the race.

“Because of the controversy with Planned Parenthood, the donations have fallen, and also people  that have been volunteering, because of the economy or whatever, they need volunteers,” said Copeland. “They need crew members, and they just need help.”
