Pa. care home owner gets prison time in death

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — The owner of a now-closed western Pennsylvania personal care home has been sentenced to six months to a year in prison in the death of an elderly man found covered in bed sores and human waste.

The (Altoona) Mirror (http://bit.ly/Z8SUuI ) says 65-year-old Sherry Jo Warner apologized to relatives of 80-year-old Kenneth McGuire, who died in November after he was found at Warner’s Home for the Aged in Altoona.

Officials said he was covered in dried feces, was dehydrated and had a blood infection and bed sores. He had lived at the home since 2007.

Warner pleaded guilty earlier this year to neglect of a care-dependent person. She told McGuire’s daughter in court that “I agree somebody didn’t do their job.”

The care home’s license was revoked in December.
