Firefighters Respond to Fire at Mercer County Plant

Hermitage firefighters responded to a small fire at the Joy Cone Company in Mercer County on Sunday morning.

The call came in just before 9 a.m.

The fire did not disrupt production at the plant.

Officials said the fire started in a piece of machinery that collects dust from cake cone shavings.

This was not the first time the machinery has sparked a fire. In August of 2011, one shift of production was shut down when the fire started in the scrap system.
