2 arrested in alleged Pa. kidnap-ransom plot

BRISTOL, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say two suspects were arrested after a man told a bank teller that his family was being held for ransom in a suburban Philadelphia apartment. No one was injured.

Police in Bucks County’s Bristol Township told the Bucks County Courier Times (http://bit.ly/17T2Fj1 ) that two armed men burst into an apartment at the Levittown Trace complex Sunday evening.

Police said the man told the teller that six family members and friends, including three young children, were held until Monday morning and threatened with harm if he didn’t withdraw $80,000 he had received from a life insurance policy.

Officers went to the complex and captured two suspects after a chase and also recovered two handguns. Officials said they are being charged with kidnapping for ransom, robbery, burglary and related charges.
