Garbage truck strikes Ohio home, traps resident

CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities say a driver lost control of the garbage truck he was operating and plowed into a home in southwest Ohio, temporarily trapping a woman inside the residence.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said no one was injured in the Monday morning crash in Green Township, outside of Cincinnati.

Police said 33-year-old Michael Schneider couldn’t slow the garbage truck down enough to navigate a bend in the roadway. The truck, which is owned by CSI Waste Removal, sheared a utility pole off the ground before striking the home.

Authorities say 57-year-old Patricia Grow was temporarily trapped inside the residence by the truck and debris. The local fire department helped remove her from the home.

Police cited Schneider, of Villa Hills, Ky., for failing to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle.
