A spring storm moving across the Northern Plains will lift into southern Canada on Monday, while the system¼’s associated cold front reaches across the Upper Midwest through the Central Plains and into the Four Corners. A cold airmass lingering behind this cold front will remain over the Northern Plains, maintaining moderate to heavy snow showers. This precipitation will become mixed with rain as temperatures warms during the afternoon. Ahead of the cold front. Meanwhile,ahead of the cold front, while this disturbance will have a rather weak moisture source, fairly moderate rain is anticipated in the Upper Great Lakes. To the south, moderate to heavy rain showers and possible isolated thunderstorms are expected ahead of the cold front in the Mid-Mississippi Valley and the Central Plains. Finally the tail of this cold front will drop across the Four Corners with a wave of low pressure and colder temperatures. This transition will lead to chances of scattered moderate snow showers across the mountains of the Four Corners.

As this weather disturbance moves across the Central U.S., high pressure will remain the dominant weather feature of the East. This area of high pressure will maintain generally dry yet cool conditions across the Eastern Valleys and East Coast. To the south, showers and thunderstorms in the Florida peninsula will taper off as the cold front impacting the region moves offshore into the nearby western Atlantic Ocean.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of 5 degrees at Mt. Washington, N.H. to a high of 89 degrees at Palm Springs, Calif.
