Gannon student jailed after stripping, assault

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A student at Gannon University in Erie has been jailed on charges that he fought with campus and city police after first taking off his clothes in the campus library.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 25-year-old Christopher Hower, who remained in the Erie County Prison on Monday.

Erie police say they were called to Gannon’s Nash Library about 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Police say Hower had taken off his clothes, put them on, then taken them off again while students and faculty watched.

The Erie Times-News ( ) reports Hower allegedly swore, resisted and fought with police. Among other things, police say Hower grabbed a city officer’s wrists and threatened to kill him and put a campus officer in a headlock.

A Gannon spokeswoman says she can’t comment on any discipline Hower might face.
