Volunteer Awarded for Service

AT&T Volunteer

A local AT&T employee was honored for her community service.

Candie Orr has worked at the phone company for 39 years, but she also devotes a lot of her time to various charities in the Valley.

Orr was honored as one of only 3,000 company employees nationwide to reach more than 300 volunteer hours in a year. She also earned the “President’s Volunteer Service Award,” and received a signed letter from President Obama for her dedication.

“It’s important to help people. The church I was raised in believes in service, and that’s always been a big part of my life,” said Orr. “I do volunteer work for that church, for the local church and the regional church.”

Orr volunteers at her church and through the AT&T Pioneer program.
