Fire destroys small church in central Pennsylvania

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Pa. (AP) — An early-morning fire has destroyed a small church in central Pennsylvania.

Officials in Perry County say the blaze broke out around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Logania Church of God in Wheatfield Township. Witnesses say the entire building had been engulfed in flames before the blaze was put out around 4:30 a.m. Firefighters have been dousing hot spots.

Members say the church is about 120 years old and the roof and steeple are now gone.

The cause is under investigation.
