Ohio shop owner not charged in robber’s shooting

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A grand jury has declined to issue charges against a southwestern Ohio shopkeeper who said he killed a robber in self-defense after the man pointed a gun at his wife and fired an errant shot at him.

A statement from the Butler County prosecutor on Tuesday said the April 13 shooting was a justified homicide and it was clear the owner had a reasonable fear of being harmed by an armed attacker.

The JournalNews in Hamilton (http://bit.ly/14ONaK8 ) reports owner Smail Gueddari declined to comment Tuesday but provided a reporter with video that was presented to grand jurors. It showed the robbery and an exchange of gunfire between Gueddari and the suspect.

The shooting at Gueddari’s Hamilton store, Mazagan Urban Ware, killed 26-year-old Jeremy Scott Irvin of Fairfield.
