Portman to Hold Energy Job Fair

U.S. Sen. Rob Portman

U.S. Senator Rob Portman, R-Cincinnati, is hosting an energy job fair in the Valley next week. The focus is employment in the oil and gas industry.

Portman is hosting the event in collaboration with the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber and the Ohio Oil and Gas Association. The fair will be held Monday at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.

More than two dozen companies will be stationed at the fair looking for workers.  Also, area community colleges and career centers will be in attendance to help train workers for the jobs. Employment opportunities include occupations ranging from welding to machinists and truck drivers.

“Oil and gas is certainly a great opportunity for Ohio. These are high paying jobs,” said Portman. “They’re jobs, for the most part, that are gonna offer good benefits, and we just gotta be sure that the Ohio workforce is taking advantage of this.”

The Energy Job Fair will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
