A Youngstown man has been arrested and charged with assaulting a woman during a purse snatching in Columbus.

Police said Bertie Burley, 50, attacked the woman, stole her purse and dragged her through the parking lot of a Kroger’s grocery store on Friday when she refused to let her purse go. Detectives said Burley also beat  the woman to take the purse.

The surveillance video played on Columbus news and two people called recognizing the car, which led investigators to Burley within a day of the assault.

Burley is facing aggravated robbery and felonious assault charges.
