COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An investigation by the Ohio Inspector General’s Office has found that some employees at the state Department of Health improperly use state-issued computers and software.
The state watchdog’s report says that while there’s no evidence confidential information was compromised, the investigation revealed computer security weaknesses.
Thursday’s report detailing the investigation says some employees in the Health Department’s Center of Creative Services improperly downloaded state-owned software for personal use and failed to install security upgrades in state computers.
The investigation also found that one employee was using her work computer to run her own business.
The Health Department says it has corrected the weaknesses, has new protocols in place and is exploring whether to take any other administrative action.
