Employees at Ohio prison subject of drug probe

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — A southwestern Ohio drug task force is investigating steroid use and distribution among employees at a state prison.

Cmdr. John Burke (BUR’-kee) of the Greater Warren County Drug Task Force says the investigation has been going on for the last seven months and involves undercover work.

He says he expects charges to be filed against at least two workers at the Lebanon Correctional Institution state prison within the next month. Prisoners are not suspected in the probe.

Burke says investigators suspect the activity, involving steroids and other unspecified drugs, has been going on for years.

He declined to release further details pending the outcome of the investigation, including whether the recent resignation of two employees at the prison is related.
