LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A second man has been sentenced to prison for beating a disc jockey outside a bar where the man was working a charity event for free.
The Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era (http://bit.ly/12nPp2k ) reports 32-year-old Joshua Laughman was sentenced Thursday in the April 1, 2012 attack outside the Dirty Ol’ Tavern in Lancaster Township.
Disc jockey James Mahler had already been jumped by one man — 33-year-old Marcos Mendez, who is serving four to 10 years for the attack — when Laughman extended his hand. At the sentencing hearing, Mahler told Laughman he thought the defendant was going to help him up.
Instead, Laughman shattered Mahler’s face with punches, requiring surgery and metal plates to repair.
Laughman apologized and blamed alcohol. Mahler forgave his attacker saying, “I hope if we ever meet again, it’s for a handshake.”
